OBITUARY
EDWARD A. DECLERCK

1916-2002
​
    A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward A. DeClerck, 85, will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Concelebrants will be the Reverends, James J. Mickus, Dave Imming, Larry Kowalski and Ernest Fluschie. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. today, in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Tony Crispo will officiate.

    Alphons Edward DeClerck was born August 24, 1916 near Carmen, Oklahoma to Francis Theophil and Methilde Swiney DeClerck and passed away at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Saturday, February 9, 2002. Ed attended Kansas State University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in 1938.

    He attended law school at Georgetown University where he served on the Georgetown University Law journal and received a Juris Doctor Degree. Mr. DeClerck was admitted to the Bars in the District of Columbia in 1941 and in Oklahoma in 1947.

    He was also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, and the United States Court of Military Appeals. Mr. DeClerck was a U.S. Magistrate during 1971-1980. He is a past President of the Garfield County Bar Association, and a member of the Garfield County, Oklahoma and American Bar Associations. Ed was on active duty for nearly six years during World War II and entered the occupation of Japan as the Legal and Government Officer for a prefecture.

    On May 22, 1954 he married the former Harriett Isabella Stuart in Enid. She preceded him in death in 1981. On December 18, 1983 he married Mary Kathryn Anderson in Enid. The couple made their home here. Ed was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, former President of the Enid Lions Club, former Commander of the VFW and was one of the incorporators of the Garfield County Hospice Association. He has served as Scout Master and has been active in a number of Community associations and projects in Enid.

    Mr. Declerck is survived by his wife, Kay of the home; one son, Tim E. DeClerck and his children, Ashley, Justin and Esther all of Enid; one step-daughter, Kathy and her husband Mitchell Hannah of Enid and his children, Kelsey and Caitlin; one step- son, Andy Anderson and his wife, Kathy and their children, Tyler and Riley all of Stillwater; one sister, Agnes Ball of McLean, VA. Ed was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

    Memorials may be made to Our Daily Bread or St. Gregory’s Good Samaritan Fund. Henninger-Allen Funeral Home will act as custodians for the fund.
