Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on February 16, 1950, Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Wichita State University in 1972 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Tulsa Law School in 1981.
After graduating from college in 1972, Mike worked in the banking industry until moving to Enid in 1980. Mike was also involved in his family’s oil and gas drilling business from 1980 until 1988. Mike was admitted to the Bar in Oklahoma in 1983 and is admitted to practice before each of the United States District Courts in Oklahoma and the United States Supreme Court.
He is a member of the Garfield County Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has been a member of the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Mike is active in the Denny Price Family YMCA of Enid, having served as Treasurer and a Director for several years. He has also been active as a Board Member and former President of Northwest Oklahoma Youth & Family Services. Mike was also a Director of the Enid Community Foundation.
Mike has represented the Oklahoma Bar Association as a member of the Rules of Professional Conduct Committee and has served by appointment of the Oklahoma Supreme Court as temporary Judge of the Court of Appeals. Mike was also the President of the Garfield County Bar Association in 2010 and has been a county bar association delegate to the Oklahoma Bar Association on numerous occasions.
Mike is married to Terry Bigheart and has two children: Dr. Lynsey Bigheart, who is an Optometrist in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Corbin Bigheart, who lives in Austin, Texas and works for an IT consulting firm. Mike’s practice is centered primarily in commercial litigation, with an emphasis on banking, oil and gas, contract and construction matters. Mike has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases in both state and federal courts. Mr. Bigheart is an AV rated attorney.
